Mukah
An ancient trading and fishing port, the earliest documentation of Mukah can be found in the annals of the Majapahit where a place known as ‘Melano’ paid tribute to the empire. History then recorded that the place became part of the Brunei empire before becoming part of the Kingdom of Sarawak in 1860. The Melanau people are the earliest known indigenous group living in Mukah, and their rich culture has thrived to this day.
Climate
As with other parts of the state, Mukah enjoys a warm tropical climate with an average annual temperature of 26.9 °C. Visitors to Mukah can take note that the weather in May will be warmer while the cooler temperature can be felt in January. The town also experiences significant rainfall throughout the year, with an average annual rainfall of 3579 millimetres.
