New Zealand travel agents hosted to Sarawak this month as part of a Tourism Malaysia familiarisation trip were quick to learn why 5500 Kiwis chose to spend their holidays in Malaysia's biggest state last year. Situated on the south west coast of Borneo, Sarawak lives up to its tagline of 'Where adventure lives.' Regional marketing manager for Sarawak Tourism Board, Barbara Benjamin Atan says Sarawak's marketing campaign consists of three major thrusts - culture, nature and adventure - and the Kiwi groups' itinerary consisted of all three. They had culture in Kuching and at the Sarawak Cultural Village, nature at the Heart2Heart orang utan conservation programme and Bako National Park, and adventure both underground and high in the tree tops at Mulu.
