Kuching, Friday : The Sarawak Tourism Board early this week held a ‘Buyers Meet Sellers’ Session in-conjunction with the Jakarta Agents Familiarization Trip to the State capital. This session provides an opportunity for the local tourism industry to showcase their products and to enable them to work together with the Jakarta based agents particularly those from the medical and health sectors.
In his welcoming address, Dato’ Rashid Khan, CEO, Sarawak Tourism Board advised local operators to come up with attractive packages so as to offer Indonesians a choice be it for leisure, medical or educational purposes. “Sarawak has also always been a destination for our Indonesian counterparts, especially those from KALBAR to seek medical treatment as well as for the education of their children. It is for these reasons that today we have with us private hospitals and educational institutions and also our tourism industry partners to showcase their products and we hope that you will take advantage of this opportunity to discuss business deals for mutual benefit of all.”
Indonesia no doubt remains one of our major markets and the Board in its effort to capitalize on the proximity of the destination, will work together with our partners to facilitate in packaging the product offerings.
Until July this year, we received 2,274,399 visitors to Sarawak, from 2,088,338, an increase of 8.91% over the same period last year. This is definitely very encouraging and we hope to see an increase in these figures in the coming months.
While in Kuching, the group was brought on a tour of the various attractions in the state to experience for themselves what the State has to offer.
